Johnny Scott Oliver Sr., 51, Elizabethton, passed away unexpectedly on July 1, 2023 at his home. Scott was born on January 6, 1972 in Elizabethton to the late Larry “Butch” Oliver and Linda Lyons Oliver. He lived his entire life in Carter County and graduated from Elizabethton High School.
Scott was a retired truck driver. He enjoyed being with his granddaughter, Addie. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved watching the Dallas Cowboys, Tennessee Vols and Los Angeles Dodgers play.
Survivors include one son, Johnny Scott “Scotty” Oliver ll (wife Morgan); one granddaughter, Addie Oliver; two half-brothers, Robbie Ray and Johnny Rogers; and one half-sister, Lisa Allen.
A service for Scott will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 8, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Mike Fritts officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m., prior to the service. The graveside service will follow the service at Teague Oliver Family Cemetery in Hampton. Pallbearers will be Lee Freeman, Jace Perkins, Chris Hensley, Keet Scalf, Andy Bumgardner, Todd Morley, Travis Rowland and George Gwinn. If anyone would like to bring a single flower to the graveside service in honor of Scott’s memory, the family would be honored.
