Gate City’s Clabaugh takes overall win in Firefly 5K run/walk event

It was an excessively warm day on Friday and the temperatures hadn’t dropped much that evening for the fourth annual Firefly 5K as runners and walkers not only had to deal with some stiff competition but a humid evening that made for a more challenging race.
In the end, Gate City native Matt Clabaugh overcame the heat to fend off the rest of the field to claim the overall and men’s title for the race. Emily Pons from Abingdon claimed the women’s title as the runner came across the finish line with a time of 23.32.
