JOHNSON CITY – ETSU Health OB/GYN is expanding patient services with the addition of a maternal fetal medicine specialist, Dr. Aleksandr Fuks.

Dr. Fuks’ addition to the clinical team brings specialized care for expectant mothers who may have two or more medical conditions that could impact their pregnancy. He also provides management for high-risk pregnancies due to maternal/fetal complications or fetal abnormalities and monitors the baby’s well-being throughout the pregnancy.

“Our goal is to contribute our efforts, experience and knowledge to the well-being of the patients that we are serving and make them always feel safe,” Dr. Fuks said. “I have over 20 years of experience in dealing with all aspects of prenatal diagnosis and care of patients with maternal comorbidities and fetal abnormalities. I am planning on applying my knowledge and experience to the care of patients at ETSU Health.”

He now serves as Professor and Department Chair for ETSU’s Quillen College of Medicine Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

“I deeply care about my patients, my residents, students, colleagues, staff and team,” he said. “I am a fair leader and will work diligently for the department to thrive. I am a family man and love spending free time with my 13-year-old daughter — when her schedule allows it, of course. I am also a big soccer and hockey fanatic.”

Dr. Fuks is board certified in both maternal fetal medicine and obstetrics and gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology. He completed his fellowship in maternal fetal medicine at the New York Medical College in Valhalla.
