Have you ever heard of Diamond Painting? If not, don’t feel bad. I didn’t know such a thing existed until earlier this year. It reminds me of cross-stitch in a way. I loved doing cross-stitch and crocheting when I was younger. But then Rheumatoid Arthritis came into my life and made my hands hurt and swell when I tried to resume those hobbies. So, I gave them up. I missed creating something and giving my creation to someone as a gift.
One day I was at another of our offices for a meeting, and one of the ladies there showed me her Diamond Painting. She enjoyed working on it during lunch. It was beautiful. I thought it would take forever to make and would be hard to do. But it really isn’t.
So, I watched some YouTube videos to familiarize myself with how it is done and then ordered a kit. There are many different kinds of Diamond Paintings. They have canvases that make a picture or design. You can even get a canvas made from a photo you have. There are also bookmarks, coasters, and other items you can make. I had no idea I would enjoy it as much as I do. It feels good to be creative again, and it is effortless on my hands.
Currently, I have one completed canvas and a few bookmarks completed. I have a work-in-progress canvas. I have five canvases and seven bookmarks to be completed. And I have ordered a sign, coasters, and some butterflies attached to a stick that will be put in the dirt around a plant for decoration. My wonderful husband got me a light pad which was a game-changer. Highly recommend using one.
I found that it also destresses me after a hard day at work. So, if this sounds like something you would like to do, order a kit from Amazon. They have them for every price range. The kit comes with everything you need to get started. You only need a little time, a workspace area, and let your creativity flow.
