On July 12, the Elizabethton River Riders hosted a baseball clinic at the Northeast Community Credit Union Park for the Boys & Girls Club of Elizabethton/Carter County kids ages 5-12. The clinic format featured age-appropriate drills for pitching, hitting, and running.  The River Rider’s team ran the clinic and gave club kids a unique experience on the field.  Manager and Coach Jeremy Owens ran the clinic with the goal to build fundamentals and instruction tailored for each ability level.
The clinic was a prelude for club kids to get some practice for the 2023 Pitch, Hit and Run competition presented by The Boys & Girls Club for the second year.  This year’s event will be held on July 27 at the Northeast Community Credit Union Park.  The competition is divided into baseball and softball divisions by age groups of 5-6, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12 and 13-14 years old. Pitch, Hit and Run is open to the public and sponsored by Citizens Bank and Major League Baseball.
Based on each player’s scores, kids could advance to a Team Championship held in an MLB stadium. Top scores then qualify for an all-expenses-paid trip for two to compete at the National Finals, at the World Series. Pitch, Hit and Run Champions get an all-expenses-paid trip during the 2023 MLB World Series.  Youth must be registered to compete.  Players will receive baseball pants and a t-shirt.  Winners will be awarded medals.
