Elizabethton VFW member Steve Bickford was presented a District All-State Award at the July meeting of the Captain Lynn H. Folsom Post No. 2166. Bickford, a long-time member of the Elizabethton Post, also served as District 1 Quartermaster for Northeast Tennessee, which is comprised of 12 VFW posts from Mountain City to Dandridge. At the district level those designated as All-State were required to establish goals in membership, recruiting, inspections and auditing, veterans and military support and VFW programs such as Voice of Democracy, Patriots Pen, Teacher of the Year, and Buddy Poppy. Miles, District 1 Quartermaster Steve Bickford of Elizabethton, and Post 2166 Commmander Andrew Wetzel, a two-time recipient of Post All-state, who accompanied Bickford to the awards presentation.
