Everyone knows that football season is just around the corner when Elizabethton High School hosts its annual Meet the Cyclones inside Citizens Bank Stadium.
This year’s event culminated the Jr. Cyclone football camp where players, alumni, and coaches worked with campers over three days going through football drills, sharing high fives, and finally being able to run out of the large Cyclone football helmet before a large group of Cyclone enthusiasts who fill the stands.
It’s also time for the community to start getting pumped up for a new season of football – not just from the high school ranks but from the youth league and middle school teams.
Practice is well underway and it won’t be long until the sounds of whistles blowing, pads clashing, and the smell of fresh popcorn begin ebbing its way through football stadiums throughout the local high schools as well as the state.
Friday’s event saw the Jr. Cyclone youth league with players and cheerleaders being introduced as well as the middle school players and high school team as players from each school walked out with their corresponding number.
It was interesting to note that there are several brother combinations playing for T.A. Dugger and Elizabethton High School.
Cheerleaders from both teams were also introduced as well as the mascots.
