Boys & Girls Club of Elizabethton/Carter County host MLB’s Pitch, Hit and Run Event

The Boys & Girls Club of Elizabethton/Carter County recently held the annual Pitch, Hit and Run event at Northeast Community Credit Union Park, home of the Elizabethton River Riders. Over 40 kids showed up and competed in different age grouping and different events. Major League Baseball Pitch Hit & Run (PHR) presented by the MLB Network, is a FREE, one-day event for boys and girls ages 7-14. Participants compete in either the baseball or softball division and have the opportunity to advance through three levels of competition: Locals, Team Championships and the Finals during the World Series.
The local boy’s winners were in the 5&6 age division were Levi Shepherd, Harley Ingram in the 7&8 division, Jordan Hughes in the 9&10 and Carder Chasteen in the 11&12 age group. On the girl’s side, Eva Solomon took the 9&10 age group, Haley Huskins won the 11&12 division and Agatha Greer won the 13&14 age group. Awards will be handed out on Sunday, July 30, at the River Riders game. Winners will need to meet at the ballpark at 4:15.
