Cordia Ellen “Tootsie” Berry, 84, Hampton, passed away Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at Signature Health Center. Tootsie was born October 12, 1938 to the late Edward S. and Nelle Smith Hazelwood.
Tootsie was a graduate of Hampton High School. She was a member of Union Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Bobby Ray Harmon; her second husband, Billy Jack Berry; a daughter, Bobbi Harmon; a son, Ray Harmon; one brother, Carl Hazelwood; and three sisters, Fern Simerly, Dorothy Nave and Betty Estep.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Terri Berry; her daughter-in-law, Becky Harmon; five grandchildren, Cole Harmon, Adam Berry and wife Emily, Billy Berry and wife Codie, Caley Harmon and Taylor Berry; a great-grandson, Augustus Jack Berry; a sister, Polly Grindstaff; and her special friends, Billy Harmon and Joe Harmon.
A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, August 5, in the Union Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Donald Davis officiating. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the cemetery at 2:50 p.m. Saturday, will be David Grindstaff, Brent Grindstaff, Adam Berry, Billy Berry, Cole Harmon and Fred Simerly. Honorary pallbearers will be Carl Lee Hazelwood, Mike Estep, Terry Smith and Carlos Lambert. The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff of Signature Health and the staff of Caris Hospice for the excellent care she received.
