Powerful Tools for Caregivers is an educational series designed to provide family members with the tools they need to take care of themselves. This program helps family caregivers reduce stress, improve self-confidence, communicate feelings better, balance their lives, increase their ability to make tough decisions and locate helpful resources. This free workshop is offered by the First Tennessee Area Agency on Aging and Disability, Alzheimer’s Tennessee, and Visiting Angels to provide caregivers with the resources they need to thrive.
The workshop consist of six sessions held once a week. Two experienced Class Leaders conduct the series (many are experienced caregivers themselves, who have successfully applied the techniques they teach). Interactive lessons, discussions and brainstorming will help you take the “tools” you choose and put them into action for your life.
Each person will receive a book, The Caregiver Helpbook, developed specifically for the class. Classes are free. Any donation to help defray the cost of the book ($25) is suggested, but not required to attend the class.
The class will be on Thursdays, starting Sept. 7 through Oct. 19 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Lynn Valley Baptist Church, 1367 Broad Street, Elizabethton. Workshop space is limited to 12 and registration is required. The workshop is open to the public and is free of charge, so reserve your spot now.
Powerful Tools for Caregivers can help you balance your life and learn to take care of yourself as a caregiver. It is a gift you can give yourself.
