CITY OF ELIZABETHTON PUBLIC INFORMATION OFFICER
Daniel Estes, City Manager for the City of Elizabethton. is pleased to announce that Mrs. Logan Engle has been promoted to the position of Assistant City Manager effective Monday, August 14.
In making the announcement, Estes said, “Logan is eminently qualified and has the experience in municipal government and the education that it takes to be successful in this job. Additionally, her track record in Elizabethton and with previous cities demonstrates she is ready to take on this new role.”
Engle has served as the Director of Planning and Economic Development for Elizabethton since 2020. She will continue to perform the duties of that office as well until a replacement has been named.
“It’s an honor and a privilege to be given the opportunity to serve in this role,” Engle said. “I have thoroughly enjoyed the role I have played with the city over the last three years and the relationships that I have made internal and external to the organization. I look forward to seeing how we can advance the community’s prosperity together.”
Engle holds a Master’s of Public Policy and Administration degree from the University of Tennessee (2013) and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and History degree from Carson-Newman University (2011).
Prior to beginning her role in Elizabethton, she previously worked for the City of Morristown and the Town of Greeneville in planning-related roles. As a native East Tennessean and Appalachian, Engle is passionate about the call to public service in this region.
She is currently serving as Tennessee APA (American Planning Association) Section Director for the State of Franklin section (Northeast TN) and is a member of TVA’s Economic Development’s Young Talent Cabinet.
“As a local government professional, public service has become more than just a profession for me,” Engle said. “I derive value from assisting citizens and stakeholders who reside, work, and conduct business in the community for which I work. I enjoy helping people in a practical, meaningful way.
“When I went to graduate school, I studied city management and hoped that one day I would be given the opportunity to do that for a living. Planning was the perfect discipline to prepare me for this since you must coordinate well with other departments to make sure development is successful.
“I think that helps in a role like this. Even though I haven’t been in the details of all the different departments that the city operates, I have had the opportunity to work with each of them very closely.”
In her personal life, Engle currently is the Moderator-Elect of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of Tennessee and will assume Moderator duties in October. She also plays the guitar and reads a lot as she has a goal of 52 books to be read in 2023 and currently is ahead of the pace to do so.
Engle is a native of Jefferson County having grown up in New Market, but currently she and her husband Tyler live in Erwin, TN where they are active in their church and sing in the choir.
