Cyclone cross country fairs well in Pioneer Clash of Classes

The Elizabethton cross country team traveled to Boone, North Carolina, on Saturday to compete in the Pioneer Clash of Classes as the teams were scored based on their high school grade.
On the girls side, Helen Hackett had the best finish as the sophomore runner claimed fifth place out of 71 runners for 10th-grade girls with a time of 13:43.00. Freshman Madeline Isaacs also had a nice finish as Isaacs crossed the finish line in 10th place in a class that had 80 runners entered.
Adrian Heading finished 24th in the same classification for Elizabethton.
On the boys side, Riley Vernon and Max Garner finished seventh and ninth, respectively, in the senior classification. The Cyclones competed against 97 other runners in their class.
Cooper Chinault and Jerry Behrmann crossed in 12th and 13th place, respectively, in the junior class race. There were 90 junior runners.
William Snodgrass finished in 12th place out of 105 runners in the sophomore boys division.
Both boys and girls ran a two-mile course.
