Jackie Lynn Proffitt, 61, of Elizabethton, passed away September 19, 2023, after a brief illness. Jackie was born October 13, 1961 to Janice Mullins Harper and the late Billy Jack Proffitt. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his stepdad, Gene Harper; maternal grandparents, Ron and Madora Mullins; and paternal grandparents, Stacey and Pearl Proffitt.

Jackie was a huge fan of the UT Vols and NASCAR. He also liked listening to music by Lynyrd Skynyrd and 101.5 WQUT radio station. He was of the Baptist faith.

Those left to cherish his memories include his mother, Janice Harper; sisters, Angie Taylor and husband Tim, and Marcella Dunn and husband Bob; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

The graveside service and interment will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 23, at Happy Valley Memorial Park, 2708 Elizabethton Highway, Johnson City, TN 37601 with Jim Carr and Tyrell Hughes officiating. Active allbearers are Kenny Mains, Tim Taylor, Josh Taylor, Steve Arnold, Chris Mullins and Michael Mullins. Honorary pallbearers are Larry Mullins, Bo Mink, Darrell Mullins, Russell Proffitt, Tip Proffitt, Jay Crockett, David Bass, Bob Dunn and Kelly Gigley. At other times, friends and family may visit the home of his sister, Angie Taylor, 104 Lexington Avenue, Elizabethton, TN 37643 or Mountain City Funeral Home to sign the guest register for the family.
