Star Photographer Ron Marvel was on the scene to capture the thrilling 10U soccer match between the Hurricanes and the Royals. The game was held as part of the Elizabethton Boys & Girls Club Soccer Association’s weekend fixtures.
These young athletes showcase their skills every Saturday morning at the Elizabethton High School soccer fields and Doe River Gorge. Rik Anderson, the Athletic Director at the Elizabethton Boys and Girls Club, shed light on the successful merger between ESA and the Boys and Girls Club.
Anderson highlighted the positive impact of the merger, stating, “We merged with ESA soccer about three years ago, offering both spring and fall seasons for kids aged 4-12, with approximately 200 kids participating each season.”
He continued, “Our ‘Kindersoccer’ program, tailored for ages 4-6, is designed for kids who are new to the sport. The program focuses on teaching fundamentals under the guidance of Louie Trivette, followed by engaging the young players in small-sided games.”
Anderson further detailed the range of divisions available, saying, “We have 6U, 8U, 10U, and 12U divisions, and we’ve been fortunate to have exceptional coaches lead these divisions. Games are played on Laporte and Hunsinger fields every Saturday morning, and these divisions continue to grow each season.”
Anderson encouraged the community to get involved, stating, “We invite anyone to come and watch, supporting these young talents. You’ll be amazed at the level of skill in our soccer program. Registration for the spring season will open in February. For any inquiries, please visit our website at www.bgcecc.org/athletic-leagues.”
