GREENEVILLE – When discussions center around the greatest groups in the country music genre, Shenandoah consistently finds itself prominently featured. The distinct vocals of Marty Raybon, coupled with the skilled musicianship of the band, have led to Shenandoah’s notable reputation. Their repertoire includes chart-topping hits like “Two Dozen Roses,” “Church on Cumberland Road,” and “Next to You, Next to Me,” alongside poignant classics such as “I Want to be Loved Like That” and the Grammy-winning duet “Somewhere in the Vicinity of the Heart” with Alison Krauss.
The award-winning group will perform Oct. 14 at 7:30 p.m. at the Niswonger Performing Arts Center in Greeneville.
Throughout their journey, Shenandoah has amassed 10 studio albums, three of which have earned Gold certification. Their presence on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart comprises 26 singles. Over a dozen No. 1 records, including enduring tracks like “Ghost in This House,” “Rock My Baby,” “Janie Baker’s Love Slave,” and “If Bubba Can Dance (I Can Too),” co-written by Raybon and McGuire, have solidified the boys from Muscle Shoals’ lasting impact on country radio. The trail they’ve blazed leaves behind a potent legacy.
