Perry Oxendine, age 75, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 19, 2023, surrounded by his beloved family at his home in Roan Mountain.  Perry was born in Carter County to the late Jack and Edith Brown Oxendine.  In addition to his parents, Perry was also preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Teresa Cairnes; his first cousin, Billy Glenn Johnson; and a sister-in-law, Joy Oxendine.

Perry retired as an electrician and was a United States Army veteran, having served his country in Vietnam. He liked talking on the HAM radio, riding the four-wheeler and loved his little cabin on the hill but most of all, Perry loved his family.  Perry loved to pick the guitar and was always putting everyone else first.  He had a servant’s heart and was known as an electrical genius.

Those left to cherish Perry’s memory include his beloved wife, Brenda Ward Oxendine; two sons, Jack Oxendine and Kenny (Terri Lynn) Cairnes; his grandchildren, Jonnie Cairnes, Nicholas Oxendine and April Barsi; his brothers and sisters, Billy Oxendine, Helen Head, Margaret Huddleston, James Oxendine and Janie Vineyard; a cousin, Kermit Baker; his special friend, William Birchfield; and several nieces, nephews and extended family members that will miss him dearly.  A special mention to Laura Brotschul.
