Arvil Mitchell Shupe, 90, of Johnson City, Tenn., went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center. Arvil was born in the Doeville Community of Butler, Tenn., on May 10, 1933, a son of the late Frank O’Dell Shupe and Alice Garland Shupe. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Larry Shupe and Bradley Shupe.
Mitch had been employed as a cook and an assistant manager at the Elks Club. He was a United States Air Force veteran and a member of Hunter First Baptist Church.
Those left to cherish and remember Mitch include his beloved wife of 68 years, Elwanda Shupe of the home; his son, Stephen Shupe and wife Claire; his daughter, Patti Shupe; his grandchildren, Rachel, Eric, Jennifer, Kimberly, Wendy, Avery, Caroline, Jessie, Lilly, Levi and Carter; three brothers, Glenn Shupe, Bennie Shupe and Frankie Shupe; one sister, Barbara Shupe; and several nieces and nephews.
