A Good Grief!! Seminar will be held Nov. 13 and 14 at the Munsey United Methodist Church Christian Life Center in Johnson City.
The seminar on Nov. 13 will be from 3 to 5:15 p.m. and Nov. 14 from 6 to 8 p.m. Elizabeth B. Brown will lead the seminar. She is the author of several booklets about grief and her own experience following the death of her seven-year-old child and her down-to-earth, common sense approach to recovery has made her a counselor to thousands who have experienced a significant loss.
The seminar explores the questions: Why do I feel like this? How long will I hurt? Why doesn’t time make the pain go away? What is normal and healthy grief? Can grieving make me physically sick? When will the ‘why mes,’ the ‘if onlys’ and the fears stop? Where is God?
Good Grief will address the emotional, spiritual, and physical after effects of loss. Brown presents a number of coping techniques, encouraging you to adapt your own methods for survival. Included will be practical counsel for understanding the stages of grief that follow loss, handling guilt and unrealistic expectations, trusting in God’s love and guidance, and helping those around you. Caregivers will gain insights on how to minister to the bereaved in very tangible and loving ways.
