Bruce Johnson, 90, of Roan Mountain, went into the loving arms of his savior on November 2, 2023. He was born June 28, 1933 to the late Issac and Bessie Johnson. He was saved October 26, 2008 and spent the last 15 years serving his Lord at Burbank Freewill Baptist Church with his late wife, Linnie Johnson.
He is survived by two children, Jada Blevins, Elizabethton, Tenn., and Wade Johnson, Roan Mountain, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Lindsay Rigsby (Jonathan), Maynardville, Tenn., Leia Holder (Nick), Elizabethton, Tenn., and Josh Johnson, Roan Mountain, Tenn.; two great-grandchildren, Tenley and Roan Rigsby, Maynardville, Tenn.; two brothers, Bill (Pat) Johnson, Roan Mountain, Tenn., Maynard (Louise) Johnson, Roan Mountain, Tenn., and Geneva Street, Roan Mountain, Tenn.
Bruce was a Korean War Veteran serving in the U.S. Army and National Guard for 14 years. He enjoyed bear hunting and time outdoors with his family and bear-hunting friends. He was past Master of the Roan Mountain Masonic Lodge #566 and a Shriner. He was a retiree from Bemberg and NARC.
During his last few days, he received exceptional care from the staff at Mountain Home VA Medical Center and the family could never thank them enough.
The family will receive friends at Burbank Freewill Baptist Church on Saturday, November 4, from 10 a.m. til noon. A graveside service will follow at Wade Johnson private, family cemetery on Sugar Hollow Road in Roan Mountain, Tenn., with the Rev. Tony Trott, Mr. Barry Stockton and Rev. Derrick Hughes officiating. Masonic Honors will be conducted by Roan Mountain Masonic Lodge #566. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
