Mary Sue Trammell Huff, 74, of Elizabethton, Tenn., passed away on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at Johnson City Medical Center. A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of William M. Trammell Sr. and the late Louise Stover Trammell. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles B. Huff.
She is survived by her father; her daughter, Tunikia Shaeffer (Albert); two grandchildren that she raised, Lamont and Taylor; other grandchildren, Olivia and Josiah; her great-grandchildren, Colton, Asher, Gatsby and Lucca; two sisters, Maxine and Elaine (James); two brothers, William Jr. (Cecilia) and Keith (Sharrah); nieces and nephews, Jamelia, Kirsten, Kendall, Kyle, Aminah, Solana and Gabriella; great-niece, JaTaela, and great-nephew, Jaxton; an aunt, Evelyn Hagler; an uncle, Charles Stover (Patricia); her in-laws, Danny Huff Sr. (Peggy), Brenda Huff Bond and Katherine Huff Blume; a cousin, whom she thought of as a sister, Betty Jenkins; and a host of other cousins and friends.
Mary Sue “Suzzie,” was a 1967 graduate of Elizabethton High School and retired from Snap-on Tools in Elizabethton. Mary Sue was a loving daughter, sister and mother to all of her family. Her strength and conviction to care for her family was immeasurable and she will be greatly missed.
An open visitation will be conducted between the hours of 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. at Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton on Tuesday, November 7, without the family present. Visitation with the family will be conducted between the hours of 12:30 and 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home with the celebration of life following at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Frank Flowe and Rev. Patricia Stover officiating. The committal and entombment will follow in the Mausoleum of Peace at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests charitable donations in honor of Mary Sue be sent to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, P.O.
