Also, coming up Thursday, Nov. 16, at 6 p.m. the new moon will be celebrated with a movie in the park at 6 p.m. The movie showing will be in the Edward’s Island Park and will feature Twilight: New Moon.
Channel your inner vampire, werewolf (or other Twilight characters) for prizes to participate in the cosplay contest. Test your Twilight knowledge and prepare for a night of fun facts and friendly competition during Twilight Trivial. Prizes will be awarded to winners.
Bring your blanket or lawn chair to cozy up under the stars for a comfortable movie night experience. Twilight: New Moon will begin after contests.
Food trucks will be available.
Edwards Island Park is located just off N. Riverside Drive across from Tetrick Funeral Home.
And, coming up Nov. 18, is the Annual Lighting of the Fraser Fir, beginning at 5 p.m.
This year, the tree will be lit by Evan Carter of the World Series champion Texas Rangers.
This is a community event to ring in the holiday season at the historic Folsom House (UT Extension Office) in Downtown Elizabethton. The two-story clapboard house was owned by Major H.M. Folsom. The story goes that in the late 1860s, the Folsom family went to Roan Mountain and brought home Fraser Fir saplings. These saplings were planted on each side of the home and the 78-foot tree standing today is the largest Fraser Fir in the State of Tennessee and the second largest in the nation. It is the tallest decorated Fraser Fir in the world!
