Lester Lee “Pooter” Carver, 74, Hampton, passed away Thursday, November 9, 2023, at his residence.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Jack and Earnestine Smith Carver.
Pooter was a graduate of Hampton High School. He served in the United States Army and retired from Snap-on Tools. He loved to work in his garden and his lawn. He was a member of Fork Mountain Free Will Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Ann Smith, and two brothers, Bobby Jack Carver and Kenneth Carver.
Survivors include his wife, Wynona Moore Carver; one daughter, Ashley Elliott, and two step-daughters, Regina Cole and Whitney Cole; two grandsons, Aiden Smith and Elijah Morris; one sister, Mildred Morton; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 15, in the Mountain Home National Cemetery with the Rev. Charlie Trivette officiating. Active pallbearers will be Chris Peters, Ned Smith, Josh Smith, Aaron, McCoy Roberson and Jack Smith. The family requested that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family to help with expenses. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 1:45 p.m. Wednesday.
