Sycamore Shoals State Historic Park will host the Overmountain Christmas Open House Saturday, Nov. 18, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
The open house is the perfect occasion to kick off the holiday season with the whole family. Enjoy Christmas themed stories and trivia, and sing along with the Colonial Christmas Carolers. The Sabine Hill Social Society will present English country dancing demonstrations and visitors may participate in making a Christmas craft project and stroll through the Winterfest Art Show exhibit by the Watauga Valley Art League.
There will be opportunities to do some early Christmas shopping in the park’s book and gift shop and visit with local crafters and makers for unique, one-of-a-kind gifts. Vendors’ products will include handmade soaps, jewelry, greeting and note cards, baked goods, handcrafted bowls, and wood turnings.
For a special holiday treat, take a horse drawn carriage ride through the park grounds. Carriage rides will be offered from 1 to 3 p.m. and are free of charge courtesy of Food City and Jersey Mike’s. Also, don’t miss the chance to visit with the Jolly Old Elf himself, Santa Claus!
It’s sure to be a fun and festive time for everyone.
