Fred Wayne Jenkins, 76, of Apopka, Fla., died Sunday, November 26, 2023, in Altamonte Springs, Fla., following an extended illness.
Fred was a native of Elizabethton, Tenn. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Ilena Jenkins; a brother, Gregory; and a cousin thought of as a sister, Kay Mason.
Survivors are his wife of 53 years, Janice Patterson Jenkins; special aunt, Deloris Jenkins, Pensacola, Fla.; sister, Pamela Davis, Elizabethton, Tenn.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Troy Sr. and Linda Rinker, Roan Mountain, Tenn., Thomas and Judy Patterson, Kingsport, Tenn., also thought of as a brother, Lance, and as a sister, Ann Pierce of Pensacola, Fla., Jim Mason of Flippin, Ark.; special nephew, Troy Jr. and Rebecca Rinker of New York City; special great-nephew, Troy Rinker III of New York City; special niece, Kim Davis, Elizabethton, Tenn.; special nephews, Brian and Jacob Pierce, Pensacola, Fla.; and special friends, Barbara and Spencer Cory White. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Fred loved the Lord and loved listening to gospel music. He never met a stranger and loved talking to folks and always making them laugh. He also loved his four-legged fur babies he had throughout the years.
Fred had a great love and friendship with his mall group aka the mallies and his former co-worker folks aka the lunch bunch group.
The family will receive friends from 12 until 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2. The funeral service for Mr. Jenkins will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Highland Funeral Home in Apopka, Fla. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens.
Because Fred had such a great love for all animals, the family request in lieu of flowers to make a donation to your local animal shelter.
