Milligan squads roll over Kentucky Christian University

Both Men and Women’s teams claimed wins over the KCU Knights Thursday night. For the Women’s team they have jumped off to an impressive 7-1 record to start the season. Meanwhile, the Men’s team had lost three in a row including a non-conference game to Carson Newman, so they were looking to get things going back in a positive direction.

Women’s- Milligan University 78 KCU 52

The Lady Buffs would hold the Lady Knights scoreless for 16 minutes of the game including outscoring the Lady Knights 22-0 in the second quarter. Milligan would push their lead out to 67-36 in the fourth quarter. Halee Padgett would lead the way with 17 points on the night while Lauren Longmire would add 16. Eleven different players would score for the Lady Buffs as they would shoot 47% in the contest. They would also out-rebound their opponents 53-31 and outscore them in the paint 54-16.

Emma Harig, Lina Lyons, and Semaj Clark all would chip in eight points. The Lady Buffs improved the record to 6-0 in the Appalachian Athletic Conference to 6-0. The Lady Buffs will host Columbia International next Wednesday at 5 pm

Men’s- Milligan 111 KCU 74

Milligan would shoot a blistering 66% from the field and 54% from three-point land;  going on to score the most points in a game since 2008. Folie Bogan, Jaz Johnson, and McCaskill Rivers each had 20 points. Lincoln Thomae would have a strong all-around performance scoring 14 points with nine rebounds and three assists.

The Buffs would use their fast break game to open up an early contest going on a 9-0 run and never looking back. They would have 30 fast break points in the game as well as outrebounding the Knights 42-27. Milligan’s bench would also outscore KCU 62-38 with 10 players scoring in the game. Milligan’s Men’s team would improve to 4-2 in the Appalachian Athletic Conference and 4-4 overall

Milligan will travel to Reinhardt on Saturday afternoon with a scheduled 4 pm tipoff.
