A basketball cliche is ‘hitting on all cylinders, but even that cliche couldn’t describe what took place when the Elizabethton Cyclone Junior Varsity played host to the Longhorns of Johnson County at John Treadway Gym.

Sprinting out to a 26-7 lead after the first quarter, the Cyclones were so far out in front by game’s end that the Longhorns couldn’t even see the dust from their sneakers as Elizabethton dealt Johnson Co. a 69-24 defeat.

In that 20 points was a rim-shaking, two-hand flush that fired up the Cyclone student body.

Pate also finished in double digits, totaling 15 in the contest.

Zack Wallin and Mason Bowling contributed nine points each in the win for Elizabethton, while Hudson Smith added five.
