It was a cold and blustery day Tuesday morning when a ribbon-cutting ceremony took place in downtown Elizabethton. But the day got a little warmer as the air was filled with the smell of delicious pizza, as Jiggy Ray’s officially reopened for business.
“We are thrilled to join the downtown community. We’re eager to contribute to local businesses and continue to witness Elizabethton’s growth. Our love for great pizza, quality beer, and fantastic live music drives us, and we can’t wait to share these passions with everyone,” said Savannah and Ben Markham, Jiggy Ray’s co-owners. The Markhams also own Boxcar Barbeque and Cantina in Johnson City.
Savannah said that the pizzeria was doing amazing business during their soft opening over the last week or so, even selling completely out of beer this past Friday night. “I mean, we sold out of everything. I think we had a few White Claws left, but that was all.” When asked what she planned for the upcoming opening weekend, she replied that she planned to triple her order of beer.
“Welcoming new business to the community is always a great occasion, and we’re especially excited that the new owners have decided to bring Jiggy Ray’s back with their exceptional experience in the restaurant industry!” said Joy McCray, Executive Director of Elizabethton/Carter County Chamber of Commerce.
Jiggy Ray’s will be open Tuesday through Sunday, with the kitchen having hours from 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. Bar hours will be 11 a.m. – wheneverish (Bartender’s Choice). Rotating weekly pizza specials will be offered as well as lunch specials every day from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Jiggy Ray’s is located at 610 E. Elk Ave. in downtown Elizabethton.”
