The Carter County Republican Party will be hosting a candidate forum for candidates in the upcoming Carter County Primary Election.
The event will take place on Saturday, Feb. 3, at 10 a.m. at the Carter County Courthouse.
“There are three contested races on the ballot for the County Primary Election and we believe it is important for voters to make informed decisions when they cast their ballots,” said Carter County Republican Party Chairwoman Abby Morris-Frye. “We wanted to give voters a chance to hear from the candidates to help them make their voting decisions.”
The three contested races on the county ballot are:
Assessor of Property – candidates John Holsclaw Jr. and Nicholas “Shane” Simerly
County Commission 6th District – candidates Jason Clawson and Brian Keener
School Board 6th District – candidates Kelly Crain and Nancy “Renee” Lewis
The forum will give each candidate 10 minutes to answer questions in front of the audience.
“The questions will be related to the office which they are seeking, and the candidates will not know what the questions are in advance,” Morris-Frye said. “At the forum, the candidates will be brought in one at a time so they cannot hear their opponents’ answers.”
In addition to holding the question-and-answer session with candidates in the contested races, the Carter County Republican Party is inviting all candidates on the Primary ballot to attend the event and meet with voters.
