Roger “Dale” Potter, 74, of Elizabethton, Tenn., passed away Monday, December 18, 2023, at his residence. He was the son of the late Ree and Mary Potter.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law, Jack and Elizabeth Hughes.
Dale was the Assistant Principal and Principal at Happy Valley Elementary School. He also previously taught at Cloudland Elementary School. Dale was a member of Range Community Christian Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family on their farm, playing golf and raising cattle.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Marisa Potter, of the home; daughter, Dr. Christian Robinette, his pride and joy; son-in-law, Nick Robinette, whom he loved very much; grandson, Jack Hayden Robinette, “a dandy”; sister, Shirley Ellis; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
A graveside service and interment for Dale will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday, December 21, in the Mausoleum of Peace at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Pastor Ken Overdorf and Mr. Chuck Milam officiating. Those who wish to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 2:45 p.m. Thursday. The family will hold a gathering of family and friends between the hours of 4:30 and 7 p.m. following the graveside service at Range Community Christian Church, 175 Hart Road, Elizabethton, TN 37643. Everyone is welcome. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the Imagination Library, 111 Dollywood Lane, Pigeon Forge, TN 37863. The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Paige Gilbert-Green and Hospice nurses Megan and Heather for all their loving care and support during this difficult time.
