Jeffery Lynn Hayes, 59, Johnson City, passed away Saturday, December 23, 2023, at Johnson City Medical Center. He was born June 24, 1964 in Carter County.
Jeffery was a graduate of Happy Valley High School. He owned and operated an auto body shop. He loved cars and tractors.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Hayes, and a brother, Marlon Hayes.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Lisa Shepherd Hayes; three children, Jessica Barnett and friend Aaron Moore, Christy Peterson and husband Tyler and Sarah Hayes and friend Dylan Fields; three grandchildren, Hannah Vaughn, Kinsley Moore and Cyler Peterson; his mother, Shirley Hayes; his special niece, Betsy Shepherd and husband Joe; and also a special friend, David Whitehead.
The graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday, December 28, in the Williams Cemetery at Milligan College. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the cemetery at 2:50 p.m. Thursday, will be Dylan Fields, John Stewart, Aaron Moore, Tyler Peterson, Joe Shepherd and Raymond Whitehead. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 2:50 p.m. Thursday. The family will receive friends at the residence following the graveside service.
