The devil knows the Word of God is powerful

From the writings of the Rev. Billy Graham

Dear Rev. Graham: I’m a high school student with an assignment to read and write a paper on the bestselling book (which my teacher claims is a Harry Potter book). When I began my research, I learned that the Bible is still the bestselling book of all time (even in the King James Version), and I’ve borrowed my title from a blog “The Bestselling Book No One is Reading.” The teacher said if I submit my paper on this topic I will get a failing grade, but I really don’t care. My paper will still be the truth. How can so many people disbelieve the Bible and it still be “the” bestseller? – B.B.

Dear B.B.: The devil knows the Word of God is powerful, and he’ll try to keep people from it and make them doubt it is indeed God’s truth. It’s been said, “The Bible does not have to be rewritten, but reread.” No other book can touch the Bible’s profound wisdom or the accuracy of its history and prophecy. Its critics, who claimed it to be filled with forgery, fiction, and unfulfilled promises, are finding that the difficulties lie with themselves and not the Bible. Greater and more careful scholarship has shown that apparent contradictions were caused by incorrect translations rather than divine inconsistencies. It was man and not the Bible needing correction.
The Bible that has given consolation, comfort, and salvation to millions in centuries past is still unlike the books of mankind, for it does not get out of date. The Bible is the textbook of revelation. In God’s great classroom is the textbook named Scripture – the revelation of God – and it will stand the onslaught of any enemy. Grace and truth have come through Jesus Christ, and every one of His righteous rules endures forever (see John 1:17, Psalm 119:160).
