The Happy Valley High School Golf program once again was honored by the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association with the Distinguished Scholastic Achievement Award. The recognition is given to teams that post a semester GPA of 3.25 or greater.

This marks the third straight year the Happy Valley High Girls’ Golf team has achieved this distinction while it is the second time in three years for the boys’ program. A year ago the boys’ team was an Outstanding Scholastic Achievement awardee.

Happy Valley is the only program from Region 1 on the list among golf teams across the state. The Happy Valley Girls’ golf team is one of two girls’ golf teams with a perfect 4.0 GPA joining Lincoln County High School with that performance. Only two other programs, Cane Ridge boys’ tennis and University School of Jackson boys’ cross country, touted a 4.0 GPA.

These academic awards go along with the on-course accomplishments for the student-athletes as the Happy Valley Girls’ Golf team was third in the District 1-A Tournament in the Fall thanks to Grace Hollifield and Cayden Anderson finishing sixth and seventh, respectively, individually. The squad also posted a fourth-place team finish in the Region 1-A event. Meanwhile, Colton Pemberton finished tied for second in the District 1-A Boys’ Golf Tournament in September.
