Danny “Butch” Cole, 77, of Elizabethton, Tenn., went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 1, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents, Spurgeon and Pearl Cole; brother, Kenneth E. Cole; daughter, Diane; and son, Danny R. Bullins.
He is survived by his wife, Linda K. Cole of Elizabethton, Tenn.; daughter, Dr. Sandra M. Bullins of Charlottesville, Va.; granddaughter, Christian N. Lanoue of Vero Beach, Fla.; brother,
Benny Cole of Durham, N.C.; and his four great-grandbabies, Zac, Ben, Eli and Faye. Butch had so many special nieces and nephews, Loretta Styles, Tammy Bullins, Kenny J. Cole, Nathan Whitaker, Donna Newman, Julie Pennell, Brandi Cole, and the list goes on and on.
Butch was born on Stoney Creek at the family home place on Cole Hollow Road and attended the Beulah Dean School. Butch worked all his life from the time he was just a little fellow helping his dad and others on the farm. He found his niche when it came to running large heavy equipment, which once he learned this skill it became his life’s
work. For the past several decades you would find him at Hayes Contractors running a backhoe or driving a huge dump truck.
Butch was a storyteller and was always trying to pull someone’s leg. He never met a stranger and could talk your ear off. His bibs were his outfit of choice on any given day – except for church.
When Butch’s first great-grandson arrived in 2011, it was love at first sight. Zac and his “George” were two peas in a pod and often referred to as soul mates.
Butch loved the Lord with all his heart and read his daily Bible Studies every day.
He will be loved and missed by all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday, February 4, at Carter Christian Church with Pastor Daryl Cox officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:30 until the service hour at 4 p.m. The family would like to express a special thank you to Debbie and Wayne Picard, Jimmy Hayes, Lisa Lowe and the many friends who have prayed for “Butch” and helped the family in any way.
