James Floyd Heaton, 80, Elizabethton, passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at Johnson City Medical Center. He was born October 14, 1943 in Carter County to the late James Paul and Carrie Jones Heaton.
James served in the United States Army and was a retired truck driver with the H.T. Hackney Trucking Company. He loved to read his Bible and in earlier years he loved to play golf. He was of the Baptist Faith
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Lawton, Cecil and Maynard.
Survivors include his wife, Shelby Jean Bowers Heaton; one son, Floyd (Sheree) Heaton; three grandchildren, Sean (Katie) Heaton, Brittany Windham and Brad Windham; three great-grandchildren, Emily Heaton, Evan Windham and Erin Windham; and his special friend, Larry Clark.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959. It was his wish to be cremated and no services are planned. Condolences may be sent to the family at our website, www.memorialfcelizabethton.com.
