To the Editor:
The Carter County Commission needs to repair a small bridge on Wilbur Dam Road in the Siam community. They need to get it repaired or replaced quickly as hundreds more people will want to use that road every day to get to the lake in June. Carter County wants to be known for having one of the best covered bridges in America, not for having no bridge on an important road.
As to bridges, Jesus is the only bridge to God and eternal life. The Bible says in 1 Timothy 2: “For there is one God and one mediator (bridge) between Almighty God and men, the man Christ Jesus.” Jesus and only Jesus bridges the gap between sinful men and a holy God.
True justice only comes from God. Psalm 89 declares, “Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne; love and faithfulness go before you.” God is holy and you cannot be in His presence if you have sin and are an unjust person. Jesus suffered so there would be justice and we could have a relationship with God. Everyone has free will. You can accept Jesus’ payment for your sins and go to Heaven and experience God’s love forever or you can reject Jesus and his payment for your sins and pay for your sins forever in Hell. Either way there will be eternal justice!
In America we see no punishment or arrest for cocaine left in the White House. No charge for a staffer who filmed gay porn in the U.S. Senate. Yet, 20 years in prison for what some believe was a peaceful protest in the White House on January 6. An 11-year sentence for peaceful protest at an abortion clinic. No outcome in an earthly court of law is ever perfectly just.
Some escape punishment on this earth, and even others are wrongly persecuted. However, God will judge fairly and justly and will make everything right for eternity. Eternity with Jesus who loves us is what we should focus on, not on this short life. Philippians 3 says, “Our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ.”
