​​Barbara June Roe, 93, of Elizabethton, Tenn., passed away Monday, February 19, 2024, at Franklin Woods Community Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Roy M. Morrell and Eleanor Forrester.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dave Roe; son, Walter E. Roe; two brothers, J. Fred Morrell and Nat D. Morrell; and two sisters, Mrs. Ina Mae Williams and Mrs. Georgia Moore.
Barbara was employed at Big K and Wal-Mart for 33-1/2 years. She enjoyed cooking, traveling on church bus tours, trying new restaurants and watching Soap Operas. She had attended First Free Will Baptist Church and was a member of Valley Forge United Methodist Church.
Those left to cherish her memory are her great-great-nephew, Trinity Allen, and companion, April Davis of Elizabethton; great-great-great-niece, Aubrey Allen of Elizabethton; nieces, Judy Brown of Elizabethton and Dr. Sue Cantrell of Jonesborough; great-niece, Brittney Allen of Unicoi; and several other great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, great-great-nephews and a great-great-niece.
Friends may call at the funeral home between the hours of 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Thursday, February 22. A graveside service for Barbara will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, February 23, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Rev. Richard Bowers officiating. Those who wish to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 1:50 p.m. Friday. The family would like to give a special thanks to Franklin Woods ICU, Signature Health, Elizabethton, Brittany Allen, Bridget Peeks, Stacy Street, Dr. Sue Cantrell and Connie Jenkins for all their loving care and support during this difficult time.
