The Elizabethton Parks and Recreation Department, Main Street Elizabethton, and the Elizabethton/Carter County Public Library are partnering together to celebrate the birthday of children’s author, Dr. Seuss.

The celebration will be held Saturday in the downtown beginning at noon and continuing until 3 p.m. The event celebrates the works of Dr. Seuss in commemoration of his birthday.

The celebration will start at the Covered Bridge Park and then continue to the library, at which those participating will pick up their Sneetch Sheet, followed by a variety of stops downtown at local businesses. Along the stops, children will meet up with guest book readers, characters, do crafts, enjoy decorations and themed treats.

Participating businesses include Carter County Bank, Boomtown & Co., Pioneer Tattoo Co., The Curious Moon Apothecary, The Peddler’s Cart, and Tweetsie Trailing.

Once each stop is visited on the Sneetch Sheet, participants will head back to the Covered Bridge Park to continue the fun. They will turn in their completed Sneetch Sheets for a chance to win prizes.

The Elizabethton Parks and Recreation will transform the park into pages straight from books of Dr. Seuss and bring along guests such as the Cat in the Hat and the Grinch. The library will have free books while supplies last. Special community partners will also be set up throughout the park with fun giveaways, along with free inflatables by Parks & Recreation.
