Patricia Eileen Gilbert, 80, died in Yukon, Okla., on March 1, 2024. She was born on December 3, 1943, in Guthrie, Okla., to Bill and Patricia Casey. 

Patricia married Wayne Gilbert on December 27, 1961, at Loring Air Force Base in Caribou, Maine. They were together for 62 years until Wayne’s passing in 2023.

Patricia graduated from Guthrie High School in 1962 and Langston University in 1982, where she was part of the first graduating nursing program. She worked as a registered nurse in labor and delivery and as a scrub tech in Guthrie for many years. Patricia was also a dedicated member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Patricia and Wayne lived in Tennessee for 25 years, where Wayne worked in emergency medicine. They moved back to Oklahoma in 2021 to be closer to their family.

Survivors include her daughter, Patti Gilbert-McLaughlin and husband Andy of Guthrie; son, Andy Gilbert and wife Michelle of Yukon; son, Michael Gilbert of Yukon; foster son, Wilford Hackner and wife Deniz of Washington D.C.; sister, Dr. Theresa Casey and husband Dr. Leslie LeHew of San Antonio, Texas; sister, Margaret Shiff and husband Howie of Oklahoma City; and sister, Dr. Mary Katherine Casey-Kelly of Oklahoma City. Six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren also survive her.

Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne, and her parents, Bill and Patricia Casey.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 8, at 2 p.m. at Remnant Church (2405 W. Noble Avenue, Guthrie), with interment following at Summit View Cemetery.
