Coleen Arnold Perkins, 92, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, March 7, 2024. She was born March 2, 1932, in Doeville, Tenn., to the late Lawton and Nancy Arnold. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clint Lee Perkins Jr.; brothers, Marshall Arnold and Leo Arnold; and sisters, Beatrice Little, Vivian Grindstaff and Elane Powers.

Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Troy (Cindy) Perkins of Dacula, Ga., and Steve (Nancy) Perkins of Elizabethton, Tenn.; grandchildren, Meagan (Angelo Canella) Perkins of Atlanta, Ga., Dr. Alex (Tara) Perkins of Granger, Ind., and Margo Perkins of Atlanta, Ga.; a step-grandson, Adam (Jennifer) Polk of Lexington Park, Md.; and three great-grandchildren, Cora, Clara and Christa Perkins of Granger, Ind. In addition, she is survived by her brother, R.V. Arnold, and her sister, Louise Rash.

Coleen was a graduate of Hampton High School (1950) and Steed Business College. She was a member of Powder Branch Baptist Church for 70 years, where she served as treasurer for 24 years. She was the owner and operator of the Powder Branch Grocery.

The family would like to thank Melissa Buckles, Melissa Hensley, and all the staff at Amedisys Home Health Care for their compassionate care. Special thanks to Coleen’s wonderful caregivers and companions, Frances Maxwell and Rose Kraft. The family would also like to thank Dr. Paul Brown and Dr. Richard Rolen for years of excellent medical care.

A graveside service will be held Sunday, March 10, at 3:15 p.m. at Happy Valley Memorial Park with the Rev. Garry Edwards officiating. Family and friends are requested to assemble at Memorial Funeral Chapel at 2:30 p.m. to drive in procession to the cemetery. Pallbearers will be Angelo Canella, Jimmy Cole, David Hyder, Ora Hyder, Dayton Pate and Alex Perkins. Honorary pallbearers will be Keith Douglas, Josh Hubbard, Lee Hubbard and Tony Presnell.
