To the Editor:

One letter to the editor disagreed with me supporting Trump because the writer said, “Trump tried to overthrow the U.S. Capitol and Constitution on January 6, 2021.” The media did repeat for over two years that Trump encouraged insurrectionists to overthrow our government. This doesn’t make it true. Trump was never charged or convicted and is innocent until proven guilty. After two years of repeated lies Tucker Carlson got thousands of hours of footage that revealed a very different and less violent and more welcoming of people into the U.S. Capital.

Dr. Steven Bonta who studied insurrections in other countries said what took place at the Capitol was a mass demonstration where a few “hooligans” got carried away. One reason this wasn’t an insurrection is the people had a right to be there as permits had been obtained. Insurrectionists don’t secure permits and tell you they are coming. The second reason is insurrection is when you try to overthrow the government usually by force and involves people with guns and no Trump supporter was carrying guns that day.

The Bible is true as it predicted in 2vTimothy 3, in the last days there would be more evil “false accusers!”

The number one sign of evil people in these end times is lying and misleading people. Evil people enjoy others’ pain and its sport for them to lie and do evil. Because of the lack of morals and all the lying in America by the major media, parents more than ever should teach their child logic and not to believe everything they read or hear.

Students must learn critical thinking and turn up their baloney detector and as the Bible says in 1 Thessalonians 5 “test everything; hold fast that which is good.” When asked about the last days Jesus said, “Take heed that no man deceive you.” We are seeing more deception than ever before. Christians should pray for discernment and follow the Bible and they won’t be deceived and will be the best critical thinkers. Proverbs says don’t jump to conclusions, get all the facts and get advice before making decisions. Charles Spurgeon said, “Discernment is not a matter of simply telling the difference between right and wrong; rather it is telling the difference between right and almost right.” Question everything. The only news that I would stake my life on that is completely true is the good news of Jesus!
