Zane Allen Teague, 91, of Polk City, Florida, formerly of Hampton, TN, passed away Monday, March 11, 2024, at the Lakeland Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Lakeland, Florida. He was born February 4, 1933, in Roan Mountain to the late Robert Lee and Mabel Lewis Teague. He was a graduate of Cloudland High School and attended East Tennessee State University. He served in the United States Army. He taught school for several years, having taught at Fairview, Tiger Valley, and Cloudland, and worked for the Jacobs Creek Job Corps until his retirement. He had lived in Florida since February 2021.

He loved farming, gardening, watching the races, and spending time with his many friends. Zane loved to tell stories, especially family tales about growing up on Ripshin Mountain and about his college days. In earlier years, he attended Morgan Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Peggy Ann Orr Teague, who passed away August 20, 2020, and by a sister, Sylvia Ann Teague Galliaher.

Survivors include his daughter, Sandra Lowder, of Polk City, Florida, and three sisters: Shirley Teague Smith, Judy Teague Propst, and Roberta ‘Bobbie’ Teague Herrin. Also surviving are one niece and four nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, March 25, 2024, in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Richard Stout officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday prior to the service. Interment will follow in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Military Honors will be provided at the funeral home by DAV Chapter 39, Honor Guard, Bluff City. Condolences may be sent to the family at our website www.memorialfcelizabethton.com.
