To the Editor:

Easter Sunday, also known as Resurrection Sunday, celebrates the resurrection of Jesus. Biblical archaeologist Titus Kennedy said, there’s archaeological proof of the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus. Atheist Lee Strobel, a skeptic and a legal journalist, studied the evidence for the resurrection to prove his wife was wrong to become a Christian but the evidence was so strong Strobel became a Christian himself. Strobel said, the facts speak for themselves! Dr. Josh McDowell was asked by his students why he couldn’t refute Christianity. He said, “For a simple reason: ‘I’m unable to explain away an event in history – the resurrection of Jesus.”

Over 400 people saw Jesus rise from the dead. Knowing our Christian faith is based on solid historical facts of the empty tomb and the risen Jesus, we can celebrate the most glorious important and life changing morning in world history – Easter!

Many local churches are having special Easter services on March 31. “The Jesus Film” will be shown for free at the Stateline Drive-In in Elizabethton at 6:30 on Saturday, March 30. “The Jesus Film” is a ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ. “The Jesus Film” is based on Luke and is in 2000 languages which makes it the most translated film of all time. It has been seen by over 10 million people, with over 490 million people surrendering their lives to Jesus after watching the film. Easter isn’t about dyeing eggs but about our Savior Jesus dying to pay for our sins on the cross and rising again. Because of the finished work of Jesus at the cross we don’t have to practice social distancing with Jesus and God the Father. This Easter, draw near to God and God will draw near to you. With the state of America and the world this could be your last Easter. The Bible says, seek the Lord God while He may be found and call upon God while He is near!
