KNOXVILLE – Offense was hard to come by for both teams as host Johnson University edged the Milligan University baseball team 5-4 on Tuesday in non-Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) action.

The loss drops the Buffaloes to 18-9 on the year.

Tied at 1-all, Milligan rallied for three runs to take a 4-1 advantage. Vasili Kaloudis broke the deadlock with an RBI single to left, and Ryan Molinari made it 3-1 when he scored on a wild pitch. Angel Lobo capped the rally with a run-scoring single to left to give Milligan a 4-1 lead.

The lead was short-lived, however. Johnson scored a run in the bottom of the fourth to cut the deficit to 4-2 before rallying for three runs in the sixth.

From that point on, the hits dried up as the teams combined for one hit during the last three innings.

Molinari scored two runs and went 1-for-3 from the plate. He also stole a base.

Milligan returns to action Friday and Saturday when it visits St. Andrews University for a three-game, AAC series. The teams will play a single, nine-inning game on Friday at 3 p.m. and a doubleheader on Saturday, beginning at 12 p.m.
