A pair of military bands is coming to the Appalachian Highlands, thanks to the East Tennessee State University Department of Music. 

The Parris Island Marine Band Wind Ensemble performs on Wednesday, March 27, at 7:30 p.m. at the ETSU Martin Center for the Arts.  

And the U.S. Army Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps, known as the “Official Escort to the President,” is scheduled for Tuesday, April 2, at 7:30 p.m. 

Admission is free for both events. 

“We are so thrilled to bring such talent to our region,” said Roya Farzaneh, adjunct professor in the department and artistic director for the popular ETSU Community Music School. 

The Marine band, made up of more than a dozen soldiers, performs around the nation. The U.S. Army Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps is a premier military band, with members wearing uniforms similar to those worn by soldiers in the Continental Army during the American Revolution. 

The Martin Center is located at 1320 W. State of Franklin Road, across from the main campus of ETSU. While admission is free, tickets are needed. 

ETSU is home to a vibrant arts community, hosting dozens of concerts, exhibitions, and performances throughout the year.
