Kim’s dedication to serving the community and providing the best care possible for physical, mental, and financial well-being stems from her admiration for her mother, who was a nurse. “My mother instilled a love for nursing early in my life,” said Kim. “I have been a nurse for 35 years and am excited to bring my broad knowledge to primary care.” She worked as a flight nurse for 20 years, caring for many patients.

Her inspiration for the empathetic, personalized care she provides each patient comes from her health experiences. Kim is a breast cancer survivor who suffers from severe asthma. After many hospitalizations and struggling with her own health, Kim says she’s learned important lessons about how to support her patients.

“I care for the whole patient, talk to them, and get to know them. I want to know the root cause of their symptoms or illness, not just provide immediate treatment. In addition, the mental and social aspects are fundamental for recovery,” stated Kim. Kim was told she would never work again; she was determined to fight her illness and is now able to come back to the career she loves.

From anticipated wellness check-ups to unexpected injuries to chronic diseases, Kim is excited to expand access to family health resources in Abingdon and help patients better understand their bodies and support their health. “I suffered from severe asthma for years, which turned out to be triggered by food allergies,” said Kim. “If someone discovered this earlier, I would not have been on 17 medications at one time and spent years suffering.” This experience is what impacts her desire to be a trusted provider and improve health outcomes more than anything.

Kim received her Master of Science in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner at Walden University, Minneapolis, Minn., and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Kentucky, Lexington, Ky.

Kim is married and has two grown children, three grandchildren, and one daughter who is currently a junior at the University of Kentucky. She has one fur baby and enjoys spending time with her family, kids, and grandkids, cheering on the University of Kentucky basketball team, and motorcycle riding with her husband.
