Genevieve Trivette Greenwell, 81, of Hampton, Tenn., went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at Johnson City Medical Center. Genevieve was born March 8, 1943 in Avery County, N.C., to the late Arlie Ray and Daisy Maxine Davis Trivette. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Horton Ray “Bib” Trivette, Bobby James Trivette, Bernard Trivette and Linzy Reed Trivette, and a sister, Eula Belle Barger.

Genevieve retired from General Motors in the Fischer Body Division as a power sewing machine operator. She was a member of Meadowview Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time with her family.

Genevieve is survived by three brothers, Ferrell Trivette, William “Bill” Trivette and Dennis (Sharon) Trivette, all of Hampton; her sister, Jessie Lee Lambert of Elizabethton; and a special friend, Stephen Pate of Hampton. Several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins also survive.

A service to celebrate Genevieve’s life will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 4, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton with Pastor Dean Presnell officiating. Music will be under the direction of Glenda and Lowell Trivette. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel between the hours of 5 and 7 p.m., prior to the service. Friends may also visit the home of her brother, Bill Trivette, Hampton, Tenn., at other times. The service will also be livestreamed. The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, April 5, in the Joel Trivette Cemetery (Dark Ridge Road, Elk Park, N.C.). Active pallbearers will be selected from nephews and great-nephews. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:45 a.m. Friday. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations in memory of Genevieve to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
