Ira “Jean” Hardin Morgan, 78, Elizabethton, passed away Saturday, April 6, 2024, at her residence.

A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Burchell and Lora Buchanan Hardin.

Jean was a graduate of Elizabethton High School and a retired beautician. She was creative, artistic and loved to sing.

Jean was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn E. Morgan; her sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Jimmy Bishop of Elizabethton; and a brother, Charles R. Hardin of Kent, Wash.

Survivors include her nieces, Teresa Deal and Lisa Bishop; a nephew, Matthew Hardin of Kent, Wash.; and a sister-in-law, Margaret Hardin of Kent, Wash. 

An entombment service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, in the Mausoleum of Peace at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Mr. Trevor Waycaster and Pastor Brandon Young officiating. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. We are more than thankful for her best friend and companion, Ira Dean Hardin, and his daughters, Kim Hardin and Deana Nichols; also her many caregivers through the years, and especially to Mary Tester and Terri Gallagher for their love and care in her final days; and also Gentiva Hospice.
