NASHVILLE — Gas prices in Tennessee continue their upward trend, marking an increase of eight cents over the past week. According to AAA – The Auto Club Group, the Tennessee Gas Price average now stands at $3.28 per gallon, reflecting a 20-cent rise compared to last month but a 10-cent decrease from a year ago.

“The seasonal transition to summer blend gasoline, coupled with geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, are the primary drivers behind the current market fluctuations,” stated Megan Cooper, spokeswoman for AAA – The Auto Club Group. “Given the prevailing uncertainty, we anticipate that pump prices will remain elevated in the coming week.”

Despite recent hikes, Tennessee’s gas prices remain relatively lower than the national average, which currently sits at $3.63 per gallon, a difference of 35 cents.

The national gas price average rose by four cents over the past week, reaching $3.63 per gallon, reflecting a 20-cent increase compared to last month but a three-cent decrease from a year ago.

Tennessee Regional Prices:

• Most expensive metro markets: Nashville ($3.34), Clarksville ($3.32), Jackson ($3.31).
• Least expensive metro markets: Kingsport ($3.17), Johnson City ($3.19), Morristown ($3.20).
