Monday night, Elizabethton High School took a moment before their match against University High to recognize their six seniors. Among the girls were Karie Merritt, Bailee Vanhuss, Maylie Stout, Sophie Elliot, and Gracie Kirsch. On the boys’ side, seniors Zach Bates and team manager Daniel McAuley were acknowledged. Coach Leann Click first commended them for their diligence and hard work, presenting each with a gift bag. Coach Click also highlighted the seniors’ contributions to the program, stating, “Five of my top six players are seniors, so we are going to miss them. They have committed to improving, and they have done a great job this year, and we have had a lot of fun.” The Cyclones currently stand at 3-3 on the season, an accomplishment given their conference competition, which includes Tennessee High, Science Hill, and Dobyns-Bennett. “We are fourth in the conference right now, a conference that includes a State Champion on the girls’ side in Science Hill,” Click added. The Elizabethton team has performed well out of conference this year, including a significant boys’ team win over Greeneville.
