Warriors ambush Rangers 16-4

Happy Valley showed a great deal of plate discipline Thursday night en route to an impressive win over county-rival Unaka, picking up twelve hits and five walks. In the win, Lane Parker picked up two hits and five RBIs. Three of those RBIs would come from a bases-loaded double in the third inning to extend the Warriors’ lead to 11-0. The Warriors would end the game in the fourth, scoring five in the frame fueled by singles by Cade Kendall and Grady Goulds. Ty Johnson, Lane Parker, and Tucker Shoun all had multiple hits for the Warriors.
On the mound, Johnson went the distance, giving up four runs off six hits with one walk and four strikeouts, picking up the win for the Warriors. In the win, the Warriors improved to 10-12.
For the Rangers, Connor Vines toed the rubber; the sophomore went three innings while surrendering five earned runs and striking out four. Offensively, Micah Gray had two RBIs with a double for Unaka, while Jaycob Nidiffer, Robert Humphreys, Logan Lewis, Vines, and Ryan Prince all picked up base hits.
Happy Valley hosts Volunteer High School Friday night at 5:30, while the Rangers will play host to North Greene Saturday at noon.
